What is SkinPen® Precision?
SkinPen® Precision is a microneedling device that creates controlled micro injuries in the skin that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing response. This initiates the release of natural growth factors to improve collagen formation and cellular tissue. Collagen Induction Therapy assists in the rejuvenation of the epidermal integrity resulting in improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
SkinPen® Precision can effectively remodel scar tissue whilst maintaining the overall structure of the skin. SkinPen® can be used on all areas of the face and body and can treat a number of concerns.

There are three phases involved in the wound-healing process:
Phase I (Inflammation phase) – The piercing of the skin triggers a response in your immune system which disinfects the wounds, increases blood flow and initiates new tissue formation.
Phase II (Proliferation phase) – A new network of blood vessels develop in addition to wound rebuilding involving new granulation cells.
Phase III (Remodeling phase) – The wound is replaced with new blood vessels and Dermal tissues.

What does the SkinPen treatment involve?
Prior to treatment:
Your practitioner will carefully assess your skin to establish if you are a suitable candidate and will thoroughly explain the procedure, risks and benefits prior to treatment.
Topical anaesthetic will be applied for 20-30 minutes prior the treatment for additional comfort.
The procedure:
The SkinPen® is carefully glided across the area of concern using the Skinfuse LIFT HG (Allergy free from cytotoxic) to create millions of microscopic puncture wounds which stimulates the natural repair process and activate collagen and elastin production. Erythema should be visible with possible signs of blood spotting. This gives us indication that the depth is at its correct point in order to penetrate deep enough into the skin.
Post treatment:
You should avoid touching the area or applying any products onto the skin for 24 hours in order to prevent infection. Post treatment Skinfuse LIFT HG can be applied to help soothe the area. After 24 hours, Skinfuse RESCUE Calming complex can be used to help support remodelling of the skin. The treatment area can be red and warm for 24 to 48 hours post treatment but most patients see a reduction in erythema after 24 hours of treatment. Specific post treatment instructions will be given to you by your practitioner.

Generally most patients will experience redness and heat to the area post treatment. Heat tends to subside within 1-2 hours and redness tends to reduce within 24-48 hours. You may also experience some dryness, tightness and flaking for up to 3 days post treatment.

The number of treatments will vary depending on the individual and their skin concerns, however, multiple treatment sessions will always be recommended for optimum results. This will be discussed in more depth during your bespoke consultation.
We recommend treatments to be 4 weeks apart, however, SkinPen® can be used in conjunction with other treatments. You can speak to one of our practitioners who can consult you further.

You will start to see visable results after around a week of having treatment, however, due to the nature of the natural healing process, results will continue to improve in the weeks following treatment, with optimum results being visible at around 3-6 months post the final treatment session.

In days leading to your appointment, treat your skin as super sensitive.
Stop using abrasive products, such as retinol, exfoliants, acids at least 48 hours before your appointment.
Do not plan electrolysis, laser, waxing or hair removal creams at least 2 weeks prior to your micro-needling appointment.
Do not book for Botox or filler appointments for at least 4 weeks either side of your micro-needling appointment.

Your skin will be slightly sensitive and red after the treatment but this will subside after a few hours.

We will provide you with all of your aftercare advice and give you the post procedure products you will need after a Skinpen® treatment.
You will also receive your pre and post treatment advice via email.
Your skin is most vulnerable between 24-72 hours after the procedure.
Do not wear make up for 24 hours
Avoid sweat inducing exercise for 3 days.
Do not exfoliate for a week
Regular cleansing, hydration and proper sun protection is the key in supporting your healing process
Use antioxidant-rich products and moisturise as much as you feel during the days after the procedure.
